During COVID, when museums and galleries were unable to host visitors, a multi-part research proposal was developed to incorporate an augmented reality experience.
Using Adobe Aero, a 3D model was positioned at the corner of St. George and Dundas, adjacent to the gallery. The featured object was the Cheverton Reducer, a three-dimensional pantograph largely responsible for the creation of the ivory miniatures in the AGO’s collection. Its significance lies in its role in introducing art collecting to Ken Thompson, whose Thompson Collection remains one of the AGO’s largest holdings.
